Our executive team is made up of students from The University of Warwick, who are doing a range of courses such as; Biomedical Sciences, Economics and Mathematics, just to name a few. Our team comprises of hardworking students who aspire to achieve highly in their field of study. Our director Jasmin Kaur comes from a background where she had no support in applying to higher education and has personally struggled in gaining a place in her chosen university. She therefore has personally selected the members of the executive team, and ensure they work hard to actualise the aims of the organisation.
Our team continuously strives to complete their assigned task to the best of their ability and fulfil their role within the team. This blog will give you a sneak-peek into the executive’s daily life, and challenges.
The PA to our Director, James, is a very driven and hardworking student – the work for him starts before 9am lectures and doesn’t finish until after nine at night! This is definitely a bit different to the typical way a first year spends their time, but he does also try to balance a diverse social life which UniAssist has supplemented, especially with gatherings such as Christmas Social, which he particularly enjoyed. He aims to further explore the options for UniAssist and escalate its expansion! According to Shirly, one of the secretaries, she doesn’t face many hardships working for UniAssist because the team is amazing and works so well together! She finds the team supportive and says that if she finds a task difficult her colleagues are more than willing to lend a helping hand. Xena, who does design and resources, has been involved with the organisation for two years now, first as a mentor and this year as a member of the executive team. She finds balancing university work alongside UniAssist tricky at times but is developing her time management skills and is figuring it out gradually! She plans to enrol for master’s after her graduation and has been inspired by UniAssist to volunteer for more outreach programmes in the future.
I would like to end this blog by saying that everyone one on our team works hard to accomplish their duties and is driven to make a change in society. They do face challenges and have to balance their responsibilities and deadlines that the university, UniAssist and extracurricular activities pose on them. But they’re learning as they are moving forward and trying to expand the organisation! I would also like to encourage all our readers to join us as mentors or help us in any way if you agree with our aims as an organisation and want to potentially change someone’s’ life.
See You All Soon!
